Jacques Henri Lartigue (1894-1986) was one of the outstanding French photographers of the last century. He received his first camera at seven years of age, and through the ensuing years, he has provided a joyful and charming look at the Parisian leisure class. His fame didn't come until the early 1960s, at which time the Museum of Modern Art began acquiring his work. Below is a selection from a special group of prints made on 20 x 24 inch (50 x 60 cm.) paper. These are signed and numbered to 25, but for many he didn't finish printing the entire edition. (These prints are not in stock here and are subject to prior sale.) |
