O. Rufus Lovett


We are pleased to feature on our web site the strong documentary work of O. Rufus Lovett. For a number of years, he has been working in the small East Texas African-American community of Weeping Mary, and he has created a wonderful body of photographs.

His work is in a number of museums, including the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the Birmingham Museum of Art. He has been in many shows and is regularly published in Texas Monthly magazine. Mr. Lovett is Instructor of Photography in the Visual Arts Department at Kilgore College. He was born (1952) and raised in Alabama and now lives in Longview, Texas.

His prints are 15 x 15 inches in size and are matted to 24 x 23 inches. Their price is $900.00 each and matting is $50.00.
